And so it begins...

|
I'm currently staying at my boyfriend's house.  He's a WoW player, I've mentioned him before.  Today we both logged on to get ready for a raid, him on his desktop and me sitting on the bed with my laptop.  When he got up to go to the bathroom, I sat down and said some things in his guildchat about him liking ponies and left him on the balcony of the purple parlour, dancing with no pants on.

In revenge, when I got up to go out, he left my warlock in Goldshire with no robe or pants, dancing on the mailbox.

I consider this an unfair escalation of revenge.

He's at work all day Weds.

The war is on.

as there a more controversial holiday?

I don't do the holiday achievements.  I don't have a lot of playtime and I'd rather do other things than try to get the achievements.  Not to mention that I'd never decide what character to get them on.

My boyfriend, my guildmates and various other friends have been doing them, though.  I spent a while on Sunday logging onto my boyfriend's character to try and get him the last achievement.  It was ... take a guess ... Be Mine.  He did everything else, got just about everything out of the presents that was possible ... except for bags of candy.  The first one that I did while he was at work got a bag and pulling the candies out left him with two candies to get.  Five presents later and no more candy.  He got home and did the next one himself, got a bag, and managed to get the last candy pieces he needed.  This was Sunday night.

A guildy has got the achievement on three of his four characters, and that's from focusing insanely on it (and his last character needing one candy).  I know other people who didn't even get it on one.  I think I got the candy achievement on one character, just from opening candy bags for a giggle to fill up the boyfriend's mailbox.  ;)

I do think that they should consider taking the candy achievement off the meta, or perhaps making it "get 20 pieces of candy" and it not matter which ones they are.  It's not very fair to make it such a random achievement for a week-long event.

In my own mini-test, I had two pieces of candy left to get on my warlock and three bags in her inventory today so I decided to go ahead and pull them out.

Here's how many it took:

Luck!

|
Today has been a day of luck and warlocky goodness.

Firstly, I did some questing and some auctions sold and I finished raising the money for my epic flying.  I'd already made myself a new carpet.

Then I went to 10-man Archavon with a random group.  A month or so ago I went there on my druid and three hunter pieces dropped in 25-man, the sole hunter got them all.  I'd never really forgiven the place for that ... until today!  Both the gloves and the robe for warlocks dropped and I was the only one!

After that, I went to Strathholme in Caverns of Time and although we were a few minutes off getting the timed run, I finished getting revered with the Kirin Tor and got the badges I needed, so I picked up the Flameheart Spell Scalpel and the Ward of the Violet Citadel.

Pretty Screenshot!

WoWScrnShot_020709_002603.jpgIt's a pain that I won't be raiding with my usual group anytime soon though, as I have to stay up way too late to do Naxx with them.  I got sick last week, I think because I was so tired and cold so I'm waiting until the weather improves and I have time off work before I do anymore raiding.

I'm trying to find a good afternoon raiding group on AD but had no luck so far!

Ding to the Third Degree

|
A little while ago, around the time that the billionth person died (and released) in Naxx and had to run back and make us clear the slime room again, I decided to level my 70 warlock up to 80.

Last night, I hit the ding!  This makes my third level 80 character.

warlockding.jpg

Questing in Zul'drak is what did it.  I really like the questlines in that place, between the Ebon Blade, Argent Crusade and the trolls.

Beside me you can see my levelling partner (who hit 80 a couple of hours later after a Gundrak run and another quest).  He also happens to be my lovely boyfriend who I met through WoW.  Maybe more on that at another time, it's all still pretty new.

Through the wonders of tailoring and jewelcrafting, I had made myself a handful of nice items so the moment I hit 80, I geared myself up.  The ebonweave gloves and robe look rather nice.

Here's how the warlock looks now.  Anyone who's read this blog for a little while or that looks through the older posts will notice that she's undergone some changes in hairstyle/colour and her piercings are different.

Emelyn.jpg

I am enjoying affliction, although there is a heck of a lot to keep track of.  I actually have DoT timer but I tend to just watch the Quartz bars instead.  I like the new summoning mechanic, even if it does look like a demon flasher but I hope they put single-target summoning back in as an option for spot-summons.  It's silly having to summon the stone for a 5-man group when only one person needs it.

Hoping to take Emelyn to Naxx tonight, watch this space.

RP Catch-Up

|
Well, creaky old Argent Dawn is down again, so I may as well do a post that I've been meaning to do.

This is sort of a "for me" post, as I don't think many other people would be interested in it.  I want to catch up my characters' stories to Wrath.

Alyviel has continued her work with the Argent Dawn, continuing on to Northrend to join the ranks of the Argent Crusade as a scout.  She fights against the Scourge as she always has, travelling with the other members of the Agents of Stromgarde, sent to the frozen north to aid the Alliance in this troublesome time.

AlyAim.jpg

Eledith, her hair now white from the life-sapping energies that she has finally thrown off, hasEledith new look.jpg followed her sister to Northrend.  Much more experienced and worldly now, the young druid lends her aid to the Alliance in healing their wounded and fighting alongside their soldiers.  She has taken the markings of an adult, copying those of her sister to show the family ties.

Yolana, the Draenei warrior, has gone into intense training back at the Exodar.  She will not travel to Northrend to aid their new allies in this fight until she is ready.

EmeDalaran.jpg

Emelyn, the power-hungry warlock, has travelled to Dalaran to study.  With her youthful appearence, she doubts that any of her old friends will recognise her and she can take all the knowledge she desires from the Kirin Tor.

Woohoo, 2.4!

Well, the patch has dropped!

I waited for the usual extra downtime, then hopped on good ol' Argent Dawn.  First thing I did was log onto Emelyn to see if I'd got enough honour for my new gloves.  I had, but what was waiting for me on my character sheet made me boggle.

Emehonour.JPG

I WISH I'd got that much in one day.  I actually got around 5k.  I hopped into AV later on with Nax before I went to bed, and the new instant honour thing is really nice.  So is the join as group feature.  Putting the Horde staring area a whole three feet further back hasn't changed a whole lot from what I could see, though.

After that I hopped on Aly and did the new daily fishing quest, which sent me to Stormwind.  Took me about 15 casts but I caught a baby crocolisk from the canals and handed it in for my reward, which was some gold, a grey, and some fishing lures.  Woot!

Then I pottered around a bit, fending off "come heal for me at Sunwell" requests until Mega got online.  We formed up a group consisting of Maxinos (warrior), Autumntail (rogue), Kertatha (mage), Raecrister (healing-type pally) and myself on Emelyn.

The new instance is fun!  We purposefully went in there without having read any strats.  Kertatha had done the first two bosses on test, so he kept quiet except for when we had some trouble.

wyrms.JPG

The room above was a lot of fun.  The first couple of pulls involved me and Kert giggling madly as we AOE'd and then died horribly.

Kael'thas was a challenge, took us about five tries to get him down.  The next-to-last try was exciting, I was the only one alive when he got to about 13%.  Between my DoTs and life siphon/life drain, I managed to get him down to 1% when I misjudged one of the arcane spheres and died, with a howl of "NOOOOOOO!".  We got him down the time after that.

Then me and Mega did some of the dailys, then gave up on them because there were just toooooo many people.  It's all pretty good fun though, and I'm looking forward to trying all the rest of the new stuff.

I did make some brilliant glass on Eledith, and got a dawnstone out of it.  It's on a cooldown though.

I'm loving the new mana regen.  Intellect now gives you extra regen, the more int you have - the more regen you get per point of spirit.  That coupled with the mana-cost reduction of regrowth ... oh man.  I was in tree form, spamming regrowth on Mega to test it, and I felt like a paladin.  I think with full raid buffs, I'll be able to spam regrowth all day without my mana going down much at all.

Oops I did it again!

Every time I level a character to 70, I swear I'll never do it again.

Psh.

So now I have a level 70 warlock.  After an extremely "interesting" Shadow Lab run (three level 69s in there is kinda tough) and a little questing in Nagrand, Emelyn dinged her final ding (until the expansion).  Nax (Mega's druid) was just a little way ahead, and Taerlyx (Admosmori's prot pally) is just behind.  Although the patch is coming and it's removing Kara attument, we're still working on it together.

Eme70.JPG

I put on my shiny frozen shadoweave set, hugged my felguard goodbye, and respec'd to affliction/destruction.  Oh my gosh it's fun.  You know when you're in a battleground, running along, and suddenly you're slowed and have a bazillion DoTs on you?  That's what I do now.  Muahahaha.

Hoping to start raiding with her soon.

Character Introduction: Emelyn and Kalianne

|

It's about time to introduce my last two alts, my warlock and my rogue.  I'm doing them together because they're both still lower levels, and their stories are intertwined.

Name: Emelyn

Age: Around 115.

Name: Kalianne

Age: 19

Background:

Emelyn was an esteemed and powerful mage of the Kirin Tor, having been taken into their midst at an early age and trained as a magic-user.  She struggled with the rules and practices of the order for a long time, but kept to them as best she could.  In her later years, Emelyn began to feel the slow creep of time catching up to her, and it was terrifying.

EmeMage.jpg

For night after night, the aging mage searched for a way to prolong her life, and it became an obsession.  Then one evening, her experiments attracted the attention of a being from the Twisting Nether - one of the leiutenants of the Burning Legion.  He appeared to Eme as a benevolant and beautiful being who offered her youth and eternal life.  Seeing her own mortality on the horizon, Emelyn went against her better judgements and did the bidding of the demon, who gave her increasingly difficult and twisted tasks to perform.

Finally, he instructed her to go to a village in a remote part of the land and destroy it, absorbing the souls of the people there, and this would return her youth.  Caught in the heady rush of power and with the promise of being young again, Emelyn did as he wished.  The village was bombarded with a rain of fire, the screams of terror splitting the night.  It was only as she absorbed the last of the life from a woman and felt her own vitality completely restored that Eme realised that the village was her family's home, and the charred remains that lay around her were those of her own children and grandchildren.

BurningVillage.jpg

Horrified by what she had wrought, Emelyn gave herself over to the demon completely and became a full warlock.  Now she hungers and cares only for power, travelling and searching for more ways to harness the fel energies of the nether.

Unknown to the magic-user, a single person survied the purging of the village.  A young child who was discovered amongst the bodies, crying in terror and sorrow.

Kalichild3.jpg

The child was taken into the care of the nearby Ravenholdt manor, a hidden house that serves as a training ground and base for a group of assassins.  Kalianne grew up with them, learning the craft as soon as she could hold a knife.  She threw herself into the way of life, wishing only to find the warlock who burned her village and killed her family, not knowing that the woman she now hunts is her own great-grandmother.

The OOC Stuff:

My warlock is currently level 63, and I'm intending to get her to 70 when I feel like it, to make her my raiding DPS character.  However, I have my other two raiders (Ele and Yol) to concentrate on, so Eme's levelling is fairly slow.  I do love playing a warlock though, and she was one of the earlier characters I made.

Kalianne is currently level 48, and likely to remain around there.  She's the character that I sometimes jump on to have a bit of fun.  I do like the rogue, but I prefer the ranged classes for damage dealing.
