So a lot has been said lately in the blog world about the Wrath lead up events surrounding the plague and the zombies found all around the world. There seem to be two sides in this debate, the Infected and the Defending. The defenders are annoyed with the infected cause they keep turning the NPCs needed for training, quests, and bartering into Zombies. They recruit the classes who can cure the plague to their side, begging them to eliminate the threat to their game play. Some on RP servers like my own Argent dawn use the reason/excuse 'I am RPing, don't break my RP'. I think that like, while normally acceptable, is being abused and by some who don't use it sincerely.

The Infected are out to convert. Some convert everyone they see, some convert those interested, and some just convert NPCs. The plague can overwhelm any single player or NPC easily, and enough converts to the undead in your group, you can quite quickly overtake a small town, then a bigger town, and perhaps eventually the cities. These players alledge that many of the so called 'defenders' are griefing their attempts to RP the spread of the plague and can often get very vocal in their anger when cleansed or killed mid campaign.

So we have two sides, both angry and hostile toward one another. Some say this world event is poorly timed, a distruption to their game, and claim the right to seek penalties for their goals being hindered by Zombies, plague, and players. So many opinions, so many aggravations, and add to that the fact that we still have Hallow's End going on for a full week, and you have a really volatile mix of opinions, aggravations, and stress. So who is right? Well, All and none. To those who say Blizzard should not have World Events, I say 'there's the door'. Players love world events like Hallow's End, Winter Veil, and more. They also love the lead up events.

The Burning Crusade lead up event was.. a little boring. There was a big boss, but he rarely spawned. There was stuff at the portal, but it got so bad it killed most servers and made the quest from there nearly impossible to complete. The Defenders and the Infected should both get along, with neither playing God Mode. Even the Paladins of the Silver Hand could not cure all of those plague ridden, or Lordaeron would not have fallen. Not all of the Cult of the Damned got their way, got their wish, and died to be risen as undead. A well played out RP would have a win some, lose some basis, and I think that anyone looking to play either role needs to see that, and accept that in their story. What do you think?

Zombie Attack!

|
The Lich King, enemy of all who live, has begun the invasion that has long been feared, with all major cities under attack by waves of zombies. The worst news, brought to us be those brave souls, is that these zombies are infecting other citizens of Azeroth and Outlands with a plague that, if not cured, turns the infected into a Zombie within 10 minutes or less! Be warned, there are reports also of citizens of the Horde and Alliance grouping up to become infected, simply to infect their fellow people.

What you can do, if you are a Priest, Paladin, or Shaman, you can cleanse this poison from the bodies of those you find infected, but be warned, if they are a Zombie already, they will need to be killed to be cleansed of this poison. If you take this job in your hands, you may put yourself at risk of being infected yourself. If you do, head to your nearest Argent Dawn Healer for a quick heal, removing the poison from yourself. If you are faced with an agitated infected citizen, unhappy with their cleansing, just know the person is not in their right mind, and likely needs to be taken to the healer, or perhaps to the Stockades.

The new Orcs Vs. Humans?

|
I was sitting in IRC chat, discussing the beta, and a friend going by the name MrCynical pointed out that it seems Orcs get more play, again, in this expansion than his beloved undead, who you would think have more reason to want to take down the Lich King. I spent time last night exploring a bit and found the Westfall based human settlements in Grizzly Hills, which I noted made major human settlements in Howling Fjord, Borean Tundra, and Grizzly Hills, in addition to a human leading the Kirin' Tor, Rhonin.

I guess the two separate points struck me as odd. Then I realized something: The majority of the conflicts in the game from start to now seem to boil down to the hatred between Orcs and Humans. In fact, if you look back through the entire franchise, there seems to be a pivotal connection that boils all battles down to these two races. The biggest connection is that these two are the lead races of their faction, making them the big center pieces of many conflicts.

Sure, we have Undead and Humans, Orcs and Night Elves, Orcs and Dwarves, and Draenei and Blood Elves, but most of the major stuff, like the expansions and stuff, is pitting those two lead races against each other. From the start of Warcraft to the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King, these two races have taken the lead in the events of the people of Azeroth and Outlands. What do you think about this breakdown? Would you like to see more major roles for other races? Or are you happy with these two races sharing the lead of the game? Let me know in the comments.

Death Knight races

|
You may have read on this fine blog about 2 weeks ago that we had a metric buttload of Wrath of the Lich King news. Death Knights. Zones. Instances. Raids. All of this and more was mention, much of which I covered here. All of this got me thinking about a few questions I just had to ask myself. The primary 3 questions will be the basis for a series of articles you can find here starting today.

The first question, when I heard that all you need is a single character who is level 55 in the game and then you can create a death knight on any realm, of any race, is what race I want. Leaked information which can be found on the Wrath of the Lich King wiki, shows all ten of the different race looks for Death Knights. The unique method of a Death Knight, starting at level 55 and only a few levels from Outlands, then Northrend, is that you can start fresh with any race you want. Never rolled a Blood Elf? Here's your chance! Want a taste of the short side? Here's your Gnomie!

I have Draenei, Night Elf, and Human characters. I refuse to roll gnome or Undead. This means that if I want to start new, I have Dwarf, Tauren, Orc, Troll, and Blood Elf which can be fresh, mid to high level content for me. But do I want to start new? I love the lore of the 3 races I have. I love Medros' back story, and even tried my hand at writing a bit of it up, though I failed miserably and have since toss it in the trash.

I love how the Night Elves sundered the world, and while I haven't written it up, I know my Druid was at the events of those times and was one of the first to take up Druidic magics under the teachings of Cenarius. My hunter is relatively new, but he paid close attention to the history of the world, and has vowed to learn from it. My Draenei are less developed, but my Paladin, Telaan, was a student of Kil'Jaeden who barely escaped the transformation to Eredar and sought the refuge of Velen's trusted few.

My Draenei hunter was born on Draenor, barely escaping in the last caravan of the planned survivors to a safe place before the siege of Shattrath City. Telaan and Traluun were bitter rivals as the Draenei tried to rebuild their civilization, their rivalry pushing them into diverse but equally as powerful skills. Telaan was ordered out of the healing ranks when, during a battle with an Orc patrol, he nearly let another Draenei, Traluun, perish. Traluun was only saved by a blessing of the leader of the party.

As you can see, my characters are very well developed, so it would be logical to take one of them into the Death Knight ranks, making them a lost soul who was taken by the Lick King before breaking free. I guess the question is, if I can only make one Death Knight, what race should it be? One I have, or one I want to be? What will your Death Knight be?

Next part: Name this Death Knight!
